I am a dairy girl & 70 Years of Happiness

Saturday morning we had breakfast all together as a family. They were yummy breakfast burritos that Kelly's Aunt Laurie made. She is such a sweet, fun, spunky, nice, anything marvelous lady.

Then we all headed over to Uncle Nelson's dairy that is on the border of New Mexico & Arizona. I had never been to a dairy before and it was neat to be able to go in one and see how things happen.

So... as you can see I, Maggie Nelson milked a cow.

One of the workers that does the milking took me to where the cows line up to get milked she grabbed a cow that was friendly and would let me pet him. Although, I had to laugh because the 60-70 cows that were lined up all kind of squealed when they saw this lady.
She was super nice & I wish I had some magic way to have been able to speak spanish to her.

We saw all the different groups of cows. The 'sick ward', 'healthy', 'maternity ward', 'heifer ward'.
Then we got to drive down a little ways and see all the new babies.
It was nice to see these little ones and luckily they had some shade.

Our Nephew Zane was going around letting all of the calves suck on his hand, it started to bleed since he never stopped letting them suck on it. He was a sad camper.

I couldn't just milk a cow and not let a calf suck on my finger.. it was definitely weird feeling and they sure do like human fingers.

The picture at the bottom is of a day old calf it was born on July 4th. They have quite a few calves born every day year round.

After we were done with the dairy we had lunch that Kelly's family was over.

We also went to a couple of my favorite places. We got more soap from a boutique down in Duncan. We went to the bakery and got a milkshake & sadly we didn't remember to go to the antique stores.

Later that night they had invited the community out for a celebration of Kelly's grandparents being married for 70 years. It was awesome to watch their lives come together and hear both Grandma & Grandpa get up and talk to there family. They definitely have had a great marriage and have had some rough times.

Can you believe it?!
Grandma's Wedding dress. It didn't look like a day old.
A quilt that was made during the reunion

This picture above was during the program. Uncle Skip sang their favorite song, which of course was a love song. They both stood up and danced with each other. I don't think that many people held it together. They sang to each other while they danced and hugged each other.

Cutting the cake 70 years later!

It was a long hot day again but I think there were lots and lots of memories made.

We finally cleaned up the church so everyone could leave the next morning, it was sad how fast the party had come and left.

Virden, New Mexico man do you know how to party when the Nelson's come to town!!
