Little Miss Nelson Nursery Part 2

Guys!!
I can't wait to post all of this goodness.. Like it gives me jitters like when I open a can of Coke or opening a great big gift.. haha. I would have post this a lot sooner but some of the things we just didn't have finished until now. Hey, Charli is only 3 months instead of 3 years old ;)
So I posted about how we did Little Miss Nelson's Nursery here. We had some challenges with trying to do a different stencil and then we did polka dots.. I still am so in love with those polka dots.
Seriously.. just go check that post out before you read this one!

Okay Kelly probably thought he was done after he painted the entire room for multiple days and set up the crib... but he didn't know what was coming his way.

Answer this question: Does a little girl need a Chandelier in her room?
My Answer: Definitely!!
Kelly's Answer: No Way, What's wrong with the light in their already?

Pick your side. If you pick Kelly's side I will prove to you why it is needed in a little girls room!

Your probably thinking really Maggie?! Yes. I was set on having a cool light in her bedroom from the second we started painting her room. I knew that the navy and mint wasn't really girly. I didn't want hot pink walls. Something more chic and happy. How do you accomplish that? Well I searched for weeks almost on different sites trying to find an affordable light that wasn't going to rob the bank.

Well thanks to KSL I took this chandieler that was in a ladies dining room and totally redid the thing.

Two words.. Hot. Pink.

After coming home with this Kelly was in complete shock on how I could possibly be doing this. The first sentence out of his mouth was: "You can do it but I am not helping!" ... typical. He tends to forget that he always ends up helping.

I first went to Lowe's to get some spray paint. I found a pretty coral color. Came home striped down the whole light and started to spray it. I realized after a couple coats I didn't like the coral color. Back to the Lowe's for a better color. We ended up getting Valspar Frosty Berry. It was a much brighter bubblegum type pink.

Then it was time to put all the pieces back on after we had it sprayed.
All of the cream/off white pieces are the original color from the chandelier.
After Kelly spent about 3 hours to hang it up and do some rigging to making it not hang so low, so we wouldn't kill ourselves when we walk into the room.

I then realized it needed some bling. Of course.
A little trip on to Amazon and I found these chains and ordered them right away!
Once Christmas decorations were hitting stores I realized I wanted some tear drop shaped jewels for it as well. Well as usual Target didn't disappoint and I found a box for $3.

Ready for the final wow!!!

Here is a before with the old light that Kelly thought was just fine... and then here is proof that every little girl needs a chandelier in her room.

Right after Kelly had the light finished I asked him so what do you think?
He said: "Okay you were right it is way stinking cool!"
(This happens with everything.. he always hates then once its done he likes it.. he mostly says he doesn't hate it he just doesn't want to put the time into doing my ideas. )

Secretly the next few days I caught him standing in the hall just staring at that light and whole room. I could tell he was getting excited for Little Miss Nelson to come but that he was also scared as well. But at the same moment he was proud.

Window Treatment!

This was another thing that came quite fast for me when I started planning what I wanted in her room. I was at Joann's and found this perfect pink and silver chevron pattern. Done! I wanted to do a valance on her window but everywhere I looked their was nothing that would really work or satisfy me.

In genius idea. I started to look on Pinterest for something else that I could do to have a tight look of a valance but not have to change my idea to something droopy. I looked at Lowe's and Home Depot for some polyfoam board but it was either a expensive piece that was huge. My idea was dwindling down to the ground.

Well as we were setting up the crib. Kelly realized we could use the foam that came in the box to make our valance. Smart Man.

So there you have it we cut a piece out the length of the window. After we made a little block of foam to go on the ends so it would hook to the side of the window nicely. We added more foam to the back just in the middle to make it strong.

I cut the material out and took straight pins and ta-da we had the finished valance. Really the only cost was fabric, straight pins and one hot glue stick. :)

You can kind of see how we ended up doing this project in the following pictures.

I did end up ironing the fabric don't worry! :)
We had the light and valance done a few weeks before Charli made her arrival.

Since Charli was born:

Gallery Wall:

Okay there are two places in this world that I get in trouble. Hobby Lobby & Target.
The canvas print and bicycle I bought at Hobby Lobby.
The lamp I found one random day on clearance at Target. I loved it for the gold and pink details.. it was absolutely perfect for next to her crib. I even remember doing a little happy dance at the end of that aisle.
The frame was something we had from a wedding gift. At this point I was debating what this gallery wall would end up becoming?
I spray painted the frame the same coral color that was what I sprayed the chandelier.

I bought some metallic silver spray paint and went to town on that bicycle. For some reason their is something about a bicycle that just makes me feel like a little kid. Probably because thats when I knocked my teeth out and learned how to do something by myself. I loved bike rides as a kid.

After some shopping at TJ Maxx I found the canvas Sparkle sign.. hum can you say bought!
I then bought a pain frame at Wood Connections and painted it pink & white stripes. I also bought the monogram C and used some cute pink & white polka dot paper and of course some gold glitter.
As for that mirror. It's actually a mirror I had in my bedroom when I was in jr. high through high school. It was a lilac purple color. My mom let me keep it and it was sitting in my basement for quite some time then it dawned on me.. Paint it! ... At first I tried painting it white. It was way to washed out and so lucky enough for me their was just enough navy blue paint left over that it could match the polka dot wall!

This was how things were laid out on the floor for a long time. I would switch around the way I thought I might like it on the wall. At one point that coral frame and navy striped fabric was going to do something but I ended up finding my childhood mirror and boom the wall was complete!

This wall took us from 10:30 pm to 1 am to hang. Kelly's a trooper for staying up late and doing wifey projects.

This was one of the first things I bought way before I knew what I wanted to do with her room. I loved the navy blue and the rustic wear of this frame. Plus every girl needs something to put her bows & flowers on. Seriously, if you know anything about me you know that I always have something in my hair so of course my daughter will be raised too. Even though her dad & Grandpa Malone can't stand that she wears them.

Hobby Lobby has tons of things that give you a whole theme. So if you can't find a place to start just take a stroll in that store and I will promise that you won't walk out empty handed!

Like I said I get in trouble at Hobby Lobby. Its bad when I walk in there and I realize I own a good chunk of the store.
Hobby Lobby:
"Follow your Heart" sign (clearance)
"You are my sunshine" sign (clearance)
"I'll eat you up I love you so" sign
Bow holder was also from Hobby Lobby

The blue stand next to the rocker was a clearance find as well
The pink frames I bought at walmart for $1 and then spray painted them the same pink as the chandelier.

The pennant above her closet is from my baby shower. I love that it matches her room and simple decor.

I am so excited about this next thing.. its small but oh is it loved! Marquees are a big thing trending right now and so is pattern mixing. Michaels has these marquee lights  they are awesome and simple to do for anyone.

I have always wanted a marquee of something in my house but I wasn't going to probably convince Kelly of helping me make anything. Their is a template that comes with each piece on this line making it so you can easily trace out paper to fit inside the light. The possibilities are endless because you can change the paper when ever you want. You could spray paint the whole letter, glitter the letter or even use washi tape!

The other sweet part of these letters are that you have separate plastic bulbs that you poke into the holes first then you go back and stick each lightbulb into the plastic bulb. 2 AAA batteries and a flip of the switch and you have this cutie!

I am planning on using it as a night light. It puts off awesome light but still sweet and simple decor.
A big shout out too Heidi Swapp for making such a easy affordable marquee.

Okay but really can that be any cuter! :)

Charli doesn't sleep in her room yet but when we are doing a diaper change or just rocking she loves to stare at the prints and chandelier.

I had to share this cute bear my mom got for Charli. Isn't it adorable?!

I am so happy and obsessed with this little girls room.
A huge thank you to Kelly for doing all the things that I ask of him.

Last night (2/20/15 mind you we are two months away from being married 3 years.. wow) we were sitting down after Kelly hanged the last two things.
I said: "Wow, we made this room look so good!"
Kelly's reply: "You came up with it, I just did it for you!"

Whatever it is. I am so grateful for a handy husband and for someone who lets me be ridiculously crazy in my decorating.

Note to Charli.. Your dad says you don't get to change your room until your at least 5 years old. But I don't think you will ever want to change it. It will be sad to see this room fade away because I remember the excitement of buying gallons of paint to seeing it all slowly come together. I will always remember the first few nights rocking you in that chair and just bawling because I didn't know I could love something so much.

Love you Charcoal! :)
