Since we bought a fourwheeler from my dad, Kelly has been wanting to use it constantly. The small rides he takes up and down the street and around our property isn't cutting it for him! He is an adrenaline junky!
So Kelly talked me in to going up to Farmington canyon with our friends Carli & Dan! I haven't ever been up there and it was pretty scary how steep it was and how fast cars and trucks were flying around the corners! Especially being in our big truck & pulling a trailer.
We stopped at Layton Walmart and got somethings to eat like hot dogs and smores stuff! Although we had forgotten a lighter at our house and then got one at our friends and left it at their house as well. As we walked into walmart we said remember to get a lighter! Well as you know we forgot to get one! As we drove up the canyon on our fourwheelers I told Kelly we didn't get a lighter, and the hunt to find someone with one began! After stopping in a campground we finally found someone with one! We made it up to the top by the towers right as the sun was beginning to set! Although there was still a ton of snow. Like at least 15-20 feet left in some places, so it was pretty chilly up top, not to mention that Kelly wore shorts! (weirdo.)
We found a fire pit and started roasting hot dogs and marshmallows! It began to get dark and we started heading back down to the truck around 11pm! I was shocked at how many people were driving up the canyon that late at night! We also saw a girl sitting right on the edge of the canyon after a switch back, she looked like a giant rock. After we got back to the truck Carli & I made the men go back to see if she was okay and there was a guy with her who was in a car that we passed. They said she looked to be okay, we instantly thought of scenarios on why you would hang your legs off a cliff.
We then joked with Dan (he is on Davis County Search & Rescue) about how tomorrow he will get a call about the two missing or injured. He had hiked that canyon an hour before we headed up on fourwheelers, he did the 7 mile hike in 45 minutes! Insanely fast! He always has some crazy stories about people that they have calls to go search for!
It was a fun time and nice to get away for a few hours! Although, I was shocked at how big the Salt Lake is, we all live on this tiny strip of land and the rest is all marsh! Antelope Island doesn't look very small like it use to and it almost could past for an ocean! It was pretty to look at! I will have to post pictures of it soon! We did however past a lot of high school kids that were on dates, its probably Makeout Mountain. I wish I would of been that smart when I was in high school instead of trying to do it in the driveway! haha.
