The Appointments Began..

We have officially started a new project in our house which consisted of another huge mess, and more work than we thought! Go figure, isn't that what always happens! We have sanded down our entire banister and railing in the kitchen and stairs! We were both sick of the old look they had! Kelly started sanding them Monday while I was at work and lets just say I came home to a sawdust home, the couch was covered the floor and rugs were covered and Nala was a dust ball with 2 beady eyes! Cleaning the walls and hand sanding wasn't much fun, but now I am looking forward to how it will really turn out and if we will like it!?

We have now gone to visit a neurologist twice for Kelly. Some of you may not know but he has had headaches for the past 7 years and everyday! Its not your usual headache, its a dull ache and he feels like he can't think clearly and sometimes sick to his stomach! He gets little relieve from Tylenol, Advil or any headache medicine! Kelly started getting these while on his mission and he went and visited with an ENT. They didn't find much out and they thought it was mostly sinus issues. He then returned home and had a MRI done of his brain and nothing was found! They did a surgery on his nose to try and clean out his sinus! Kimmy (Kelly's oldest sister) worked in a chiropractor office and luckily has had somethings for him to try as a neck traction and every time we see her she adjusts him and everyone else in the family! I thank her for all her help and time she spends helping him!

After much nagging and long conversations we finally decided to get a neurologist appointment! The first one was in April, surprisingly we spent about 2 hours in the doctors office with him asking questions, he even did a dementia test because of Kelly's "clouded thinking". We discussed a whole bunch of possibilities but didn't really feel like it went anywhere after we left! They did 12 blood tests on him that visit! Kelly was shocked when they kept pulling out more tests! They didn't find anything odd in any of the tests! Then the doctor decided to go on the drug form, we discussed if he should have another MRI done and we were talked out of that! (Even though it had been 7 years since the last one and even though nothing looked unusual then why not check to see if 7 years later something is showing.)

We then tried muscle relaxers for 6 weeks, Kelly sleeps amazingly fine! I mean come on he's a husband, but if he ever holds still long enough he is out like a light! The discomfort isn't when he's going to bed anyways its during the day! In between the time of the first appointment Kelly would get adjusted and massaged, we soon found out that it was definitely his neck that started the head ache (C3 on his spine). Finally we had the 2nd appointment, I wasn't able to go but Kelly had told the doctor that the muscle relaxers didn't do much and he still had symptoms, we had already told him that we didn't want to try anti-depressants or seizure medication, even though they could help they have more cons than they do pros! I told Kelly that he needed to tell the doctor that we would want an CT scan done on his neck and brain, they never did anything with his neck before! Before the doctor was concerned with us having to pay a lot to do the scans but how else will you know if there is a nerve that looks wrong unless you do the scan! Plus after all the appointments we will hit our deductible anyways! So on June 4th he will be having the two CT scans and then going in the next day to hear back on if anything looks in different, they are thinking that if something does need to be done the neurologist will refer him to a Physical Pain Specialist that can inject things into his neck! The weird thing is the neurologist hasn't been very hands on, it kind of sounds like a easy doctor occupation.

Kelly has gone a few days with no headaches and he really enjoys those days! I hope we find something that works. Its hard to go into it blinded and not really know but I think we will eventually know what is going on! Kelly struggles with the hit of the initial money we will have to pay but I am just glad we are able to get it looked at and try different things if needed!

I will post any more updates as they happen! :)
