September is here! Wow, I can't believe!
Big News:
Kelly and I just celebrated being married 5 months on Thursday!
I got a job at Sunset Elementary!
Getting closer to being house owners!
I have to admit I get spoiled by this boy. We went to Doolittle's Deli by the Ogden Airport. It was really good infact Kelly said "Zupas has competition now!" After, we needed to go to Walmart I was out of carpet cleaner and some baking soda for the fridge.. For some reason when I go shopping with Kelly, we always end up walking out with big items like a TV or this time a kennel for Nala!
We have let her sleep on the ground in our room, but we thought it would be nice to contain her just a bit while we snooze, since she now can FLY up onto our bed and land right on top of you! She is a crazy dog, loves to jump and play rough.. I hope the stage mellows by the time we have some hoodlums running around.
A few weeks ago we were talking about what will go on when we buy the house, I had only been working at Avante Photography and Dance Image. I wanted to find something a little more stable and something consistent in the day. Well, after a few minutes Kelly said I wonder if there is anything in the school districts. Well, after a phone call to his mom I applied for four jobs in Davis School District.
A couple days later, his mom called saying there would be an opening at her school in the Resource Department for a teacher aide. She said it hadn't been opened online but probably will shortly! She asked me to come in later that week to meet with the lady over Resource. I was excited because maybe it would help me get a head start after 80 people apply for it. Little did we know that my mother in law, told the lady about me and also the Principal at her school.. We sat and chatted for an hour or so, then they took me down to the office and I met with the principal. He asked me about where I grew up and I said Hooper. He then replied "oh, I live there", You know the next question: "What's your maiden name?"... "Malone"..."Oh, President Malone's daughter." ...after a little more chit chat, he told me he was a Bishop and in the High Council. I grew up with his son Scott, we luckily weren't close because he probably wouldn't of done what he did next. He walked me up to the head office lady and said will you get her a part time hire form?
Okay, so just like that I walked in thinking hopefully this job will come and I walked out with it not even being posted! Kelly, was shocked when I called and told him. I was a little nervous to start working just because I don't know much about Special Education & Resource.
I have now worked for roughly 2 weeks, it has been a fun experience. There isn't a day when you don't here something funny from someone inside that room. I teach 1st grade reading, 2nd grade reading, 6th grade reading, Kindergarten Handwriting/Math, 3rd grade math. I also take a few kids that are Self Contained. That practically means that they have tested to need at least 3 hours of Resource a day. I teach just 26 kids a day and we 45 in resource total. Sunset Elementary, is a very poor school. Its kind of weird to go to a school where they get breakfast served in class and where the kids don't have good home lives. It makes me appreciate, where I grew up and all the things my parent's let me be apart of.
Although, some of the kids don't know what a letter is or they don't even know how to hold a pencil, I hope I at least am making some difference for them.
Well enough of work talk...
As for our house.. We have been planning on buying it from Kelly's parents since day 1 we were married, although we didn't know we had to jump through so many hoops. I will be honest I know nothing about loans, interest rates, mortgage insurance and equity.. Kelly says he doesn't know it either, but he has to water it down a lot whenever we talk about it.
We have been working with Academy Mortgage. They have been awesome with finding us a loan and helping with all the weird things going on. We are hoping to get out of Mortgage Insurance, his parents would gift us the equity but, that all matters on how much it appraises for. We did find out that his parents won't get hit with any taxes by gifting it so that was a positive. We also found out that it is legal for them to sale it to us, even though were family. I honestly don't know who came up with that rule, but it was pretty ridiculous when we thought we wouldn't even be able to buy it from them just because of a same last name.
Although, his parents are going crazy trying to find a house that they would want to buy once we purchase our house, because they have so long before they get hit with taxes to roll it over. They have found some good ones, but some are Short Sales. Which I guess are pains in the derriere because its bank owned! So once they find a house we can roll on through with getting an appraisal and maybe closing down on it.
The agent we've been working with is Logan Jenson. I actually grew up with his sister Brittney. We took dance together at Dance Image Studios and then we were on Silverline together. I love her so much, so when Kelly told me that's who it was I was pretty happy. Also, my dad works with their dad James. Logan has been very helpful and nice throughout the whole crazy questions we have had to ask.
We are hoping that by the end of the year we will have everything settled. Its one of those processes where you sometimes think it would be so much easier not to even start because of all the things you have to do.
Kelly, has got his promotion from work and also passed a welding test. Those were his two goals this year at work and he's done them both. He's very happy about that, and maybe because he's making more now because of it! I have to admit, I don't get everything he does everyday but after helping him study, its not just digging holes and gluing pipe together. He enjoys Questar but is hoping to move up the Ogden plant. Rumor is that there will be some openings soon. He applied there before and we found out they really wanted him but Salt Lake Questar didn't want any of there guys taken or transferred. So we are hoping this time they won't be stingy.
The other good news is the house across the street from us that has been vacant and growing weeds that look like trees was finally auctioned off. The people that bought it have already taken out carpet, taken the weeds out and cut trees. They are going to flip the house and sale it! I am so happy that someone bought it because, it will help with us and our house. I know that the chances of someone buying it without someone flipping it, it probably would have never gotten any better.
We have also been working in the yard. Okay, I take that back Kelly has been! I occasionally help mow the lawn but he enjoys using his hedger and skidsteer around the yard. We already have plans for the future of our yard like cutting down trees, planting flowers, taking out some plants and making our driveway a little bigger. Kelly has been a huge help in and outside of the house.
...Okay, If you are still reading this I applaud you! But, here is a funny thing that happened this week:
After work one night I was just a little upset about somethings and I was just worn out, Kelly of course still doesn't know girl hormones! As I was complaining he just looked at me and said "You know what you are fine for awhile with patience and then once you are done, YOU ARE DONE" ...I know I have little patience sometime, but Kelly makes things better with some back tickles or a massage and glass of Coke. My problems are solved.
