I have been put in as a Assistant Beehive Adviser!
I am excited about the calling and so far it has been fun! I absolutely love the girls that are in our ward! They are great girls and I think they are ten times stronger than I ever was!
Although, only being 2 years older than some of them is a little weird. I sometimes don't feel like a leader! I get along great with the girls!
We went to Stake Girls camp July 25th - July 28th! We went to Cinnamon Creek LDS camp.
A) it was my first time staying in a tent!
B) first time being a leader!
The laurels set up our tents because us leaders were clueless about how to set them up!
We made it the whole time with not one fight or anyone being homesick!
We sang so many songs and played tons of games.
We had the biggest ward, 36 in total with all of us!
The them for the camp was: Once upon a time...My happily ever after. Every ward had there own princess that they decorated there camp with. We had Princess and the Frog, I found a frog ball at Walmart and at first I wasn't sure if it was going to be totally lame but the girls ended up taking it everywhere we went, the dam, certification, the hike, every meal and he also slept in every tent! He was one spoiled frog!
Our girls were awesome and had great attitudes about everything. Although, being the youngest leader that means that you get played around with a lot! The girls would find stuff of mine and put it in the Lost & Found box so I would have to do a dance on stage to get my stuff back! They are smart girls!
They also asked me to prank some of there friends from other wards! :) It was pretty awesome! I ran around in a monkey suit! We took the new girls Snipe Hunting!
There was a dam that was close to our campground, we went one day with just our ward and the next day we went with the whole stake! They had rented kayaks for us, well I kind of had fun with our ward and we flipped a couple people let alone, I went to go out with some of our girls and I knew there was too much weight so I went to jump out and ended up flipping us all! it was quite funny although some other leaders in the stake weren't very happy with me for flipping them! I think they need to chill the HECK out! So many of the leaders had to shower everyday and be dressed in high class camping gear! I found it annoying! Us leader bummed it and were completely fine, and I think it means more to the girls when you can let yourself go for a few days and not care how you look worldly!
Although on the spiritual side they had some awesome speakers I loved Laurel Christensen she works for Deseret Book that spoke the first night, she had the girls stand up and say the first sentence of the Young Womans theme " We our daughters of our Heavenly Father who loves us and we love them!" ...they learned the significant of that statement! It really reminded me of that its not just something we say every week, that it truly means a lot because there is some people that don't even know that they could have just that! She also picked a few girls out of the audience and had people say what they loved about them! She picked a girl from our ward who isn't a member and wanted to come completely by herself, she had no clue in what we believed she seriously has some guts to come hang out! After we stated what we loved about her she did a Standing Ovation! Everyone stood up and yelled! That ended up happening the rest of the week weather it was for the cooks, the stake president, or the young woman presidency! The girls really took her to heart!
We had an awesome testimony meeting and great scripture studies while we were there! I really enjoyed girls camp as a leader and I am glad that I went even though I didn't want to! Thanks Kelly for forcing me!
