We took our boat out for the second time this year yesterday. We went out last Saturday to Willard Bay but the water got too choppy so we couldn't do much but just sit and float but it was the first time my dad had ever been on our boat, he really enjoyed it. We waited for it to calm down but it never did so we headed back home picked up Charli from Grandma Malone and then headed to Burger Bar for some much needed dinner.
It was a BLAST!
We got up early and I cleaned the house as Mr. Nelson finished up trimming the sides of the yard. We also talked about some plants we want to add and take out of our front yard. After we got Charli up and ready (she ate almost 8 oz for breakfast.. okay maybe not her jammies were soaked. But I did giver her eight oz.) We dropped Charli off at Grandma Nelson and we also went to Costco to buy a lifejacket for both of us. They didn't have any men ones but I got one! Lifejackets are fashion statements but I will say mine is pretty stinking cute.. Hot Pink and Black with leopard print! :)
The weather was a perfect temperature. The water was perfect and it was like glass. We took Tyson & Todd with us. They are a riot! I am so glad that we have the friends that we have. They are truly great guys and made the day so much fun. We started out doing some wake boarding and then decided to use the tube so we could deflate it because it is such a monster.
I went out on the tube with Kelly. Mind you it was my first time being on a tube for a couple years. Last year I was sad that I couldn't do much on the boat since being pregnant. So I have waited for this time to come. Although I am not one who likes to go fast or get whipped off. Todd did a good job of staying in a range that I totally didn't want to kill him. I am a coast along for the ride...
After we took a break from tubing we all just jumped in and swam around. Tyson was throwing crackers into the bay and the seagulls would come dive down to get them. Then Todd & Tyson had the idea to try and catch a seagull trying to get a cracker. Lets just say the seagulls are much faster but it was funny to watch them dive off the boat.
Todd tried to solemn ski and we did finally get him up and going. It looks very difficult to do. Mr. Nelson then got on the wake board. He is so natural at everything.. that kid can do it all except dance (he tries but its not the best moves).
After he was done I decided that I would try wake boarding. I have never done it before. I didn't know how to put the board on. I didn't know much of anything really. Well I had the perfect team of guys to teach me! Once I was secured we tried it. I was trying to stand up too early before the boat had even moved (go figure). But once I learned to lean back and let the boat take me then I was understanding a little more. I had to figure out which foot I would like in front and felt natural. Mr. Nelson puts his left forward which is different since he's dominantly right. I tried left and it was a no go. Once I did my right foot it was a lot easier. I almost got up by that time but I couldn't remember to get my weight on my back foot and to lean back... so therefore I drank willard bay and got a really good sinus cleanse for my Sinus Infection. Yay!
My arms got way too tired and it hurt my sides trying to do it after the 10ish times we tried. The boys kept encouraging me & giving me pointers. If they wouldn't of done that I would have given up I am sure. My goal is that next time I will be able to hopefully get up and stay up.
Have you ever had to flip your wake board back over?! The first time I went down I ended up on my stomach instead of my back so between my life jacket and the board holding me up I looked like a banana in the water. I didn't know how to flip it back over I tried to rotate my hips and knees but it killed. It felt like I would dislocate something.. Once they pulled back around in the boat Todd helped flip me back over.
After that I got how to flip over, yay me! .. Now I know why Charli has such a hard time with rolling. I can't even do it in the water!
We headed over to the beach and then Mr. Nelson let me drive the boat. Mind you boats are so hard to drive its amazing to me that men can drive, work all different types of machines. I did okay but it wasn't easy nor would you want me to pull you behind the boat.. but I hope that will get better over time.
We did some more wake boarding and then headed back in to load up and head home. It took forever waiting in the North Marina since there were so many boats launching. But we finally made it in!
We picked up Charli from Grandma Nelson and then went home to enjoy some yummy ribs, macaroni salad, peanut butter brownies and my favorite homemade salsa that Tyson makes. That kid sure knows how to cook & he taught me how to make his salsa.
Dinner was delicious and we all sat and talked about different things while spraying Vinegar all over us to take the sting out of all our sunburns. We were tuckered out! It was a great night. After feeding Charli some pears and doing bath time we were finally ready to fall asleep!
It was a great day in the Sun... I want to go out every single day! :)
