The Master Suite (a little late)

I realized that I never really posted anything on my blog about when we completely changed our entire room.

We got married in April 2012 and that was our first project that summer. It was a fun, stressful, bonding, crazy, paint fume time.

So here it goes:

I honestly can't believe this is how our bedroom use to look!
But it didn't last long!

We started to tape and prep

Then I got to be the first to start on the ceiling. If you are like Mr. Nelson you are probably wondering why would you ever want to paint a ceiling. But, it really does make sense at the end of all of it. Pinky swear!

But no it isn't fun to paint a bumpy ceiling and with as bright as blue as we were going it was a little insane. Especially where Mr.Nelson didn't know I wasn't afraid of color.

See that unsure face of his... it's just the beginning.
The next day we started the walls. We did a dark grey. At first its a little intimidating because of how bright the ceiling was and then the insanity of making your walls so dark.
After a few coats.. okay LOTS of coats we finally had it a little closer to being done.

I know we spent at least 3 days with painting so I believe the end of the third day we finally started the most exciting part.
Obviously I stood back and watched. Kelly drew a grid on our wall so we would have the perfect angle of chevron.
(It pays to have a husband who is a perfectionist and engineer)

He probably could of left it like this and I would of been happy.

But, then he finally used the blue that was on the ceiling to paint inside the tape!
It took only 2 coats and some dry time.

While he was painting and working on the room I had found these night stands on KSL.
I used the paint from the ceiling and chevron.
I really should of put a sealant on them because almost 2 years later and they really need to be painted again.

The dresser I found on KSL as well. Kelly already had a dresser since he made one in high school. I needed one. The only bad thing about this guy is he's a little small. Well, when you have a ton of clothes its difficult.

The curtains I bought at Target. They are the Eclipse brand! They don't really hang flowy and pretty but, they are GREAT! They are made to keep your house warm or cool. I loved it before we got more insulation in the attic because they really did help. They weren't the cheapest curtain but they made us happy. We have some like it in our basement on our sliding back door. They hang better than the ones in our room but they do keep the heat out and the cool in!

Okay.. are you ready for the final product!!!

We got a bed frame later on when a store was closing out, that ended up never closing. SCORE!
We got a dang good deal on it!
We then added some crown moulding around the top of the room. It definitely finished the room even more.

These pillows Mr. & Mrs. pillows I got from Hobby Lobby!

I am so happy with our bedroom. Its not the average master bedroom. But, it fits us & thats what matters right!
